UK’s Priciest Property: London’s Buckingham Gate Tops the List at £9.6 Million

The research conducted by property firm Rightmove has revealed that Buckingham Gate in Westminster, central London, is the most expensive street in the UK, with an average asking price of a staggering £9,633,333. This luxurious street, located in the heart of the capital, is surrounded by iconic landmarks such as Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, and St James’s Park.

Following closely behind in second place is Vicarage Gate in Holland Park, with an average price tag of £6,332,000, and in third place is Park Road in St John’s Wood, with an average asking price of £5,814,286. The allure of prestigious London boroughs like Mayfair, St John’s Wood, and Holland Park is evident, as sales searches in these areas have seen a significant increase year-on-year.

Outside of London, Old Avenue in Weybridge, Surrey, takes the title of the most expensive street to buy on, with an average asking price of £2,633,333. The Ridgeway in Cuffley, Hertfordshire, and Manor Road in Chigwell, Essex, follow closely behind as the next most expensive streets outside of London.

Tim Bannister, from Rightmove, notes the continued dominance of London as the epicenter of luxury property in the UK, with Buckingham Gate leading the pack in terms of pricing. While these extravagant homes may only be within reach for a select few, they continue to captivate onlookers, with listings on Rightmove often ranking among the most viewed properties.

Despite the high prices seen in these exclusive locations, the average UK house price was reported to be £285,000 in December 2023, demonstrating a slight decrease from the previous year. As the allure of luxury living in London and beyond continues to attract interest, the property market’s diversity and appeal remain strong.
