The Block champions strike gold once more

Steph and Gian Ottavio sell renovated home for $1.8m, make tidy profit

Steph and Gian Ottavio, last year’s winners of The Block, have once again hit the jackpot with the sale of their renovated home in Bexley. The couple purchased the property in early 2020 for $1,020,000 and have recently sold it for a whopping $1,825,000, making a tidy profit.

Located between their parents’ homes in Carss Park and Stanmore, the Federation-style home underwent a seven-month renovation that included a modern extension designed by architect Steph. The open-plan layout features vaulted ceilings, north-facing skylights, burnished concrete flooring, and a stunning Rosa Zarci marble bench in the kitchen.

Steph and Gian moved into the home with their cavoodle, Lumiere, in early 2022, just before their April wedding. The couple even submitted an audition tape to Channel 9 with footage from their build, leading to their victory on The Block and a record-breaking $5 million prize.

Since their big win, Steph and Gian have launched a homewares brand inspired by the Japandi aesthetic. With the median house price in Bexley at $1.59 million and rising 7.1% over the past year, the Ottavios’ success story serves as inspiration for aspiring renovators and homeowners alike.
