Investing in a Poultry Farm: A Clucking Good Move for 2024
Investing in a poultry farm or a home in one of the chicken industry’s heartlands could prove to be a wise move in 2024. The demand for chicken in Australian households, which is known to be one of the most affordable meats, is expected to boost the property outlook in parts of regional Australia this year.
According to a rural property analysis by the Ray White Group, chief economist Nerida Conisbee identified eight factors that will influence the state of regional real estate in 2024. Among these factors, an increasing appetite for poultry in these meat-growing areas, particularly in New South Wales and parts of Queensland, is expected to drive prosperity in the property market.
The report highlighted that about a third of all chicken meat is produced in New South Wales, with farms located in regions such as the Central Coast, Hunter, New England, Riverina, and Western Sydney. Queensland is the second-largest producer, with farms mainly situated around Redland Bay and near Brisbane.
Nearly 70% of Australian households serve chicken meat at least twice a week, indicating a strong and consistent demand for poultry. Conisbee also noted that other factors such as full water storages, price rallies in beef and sheep, record-high crop production, and a promising outlook for the local rice production industry will contribute to the growth of regional real estate in 2024.
For those interested in investing in a former chicken farm, a property located on the New South Wales central coast is currently on the market. The homestead, situated at 2544 Wisemans Ferry Road, Mangrove Mountain, offers the potential to raise chickens, turkeys, ducks, or engage in egg production. The property features a seven-bedroom house with a pool, set on five hectares of land with eight sheds.
Overall, investing in the poultry industry or properties within the chicken industry’s heartlands could present lucrative opportunities for investors looking to capitalize on the thriving demand for poultry in Australian households.
