Approval of Draft Law for Real Estate Leasing in Sharjah by Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC)

The Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) has approved a draft law for the year 2024 regarding real estate leasing in Sharjah. The approval comes after introducing a number of amendments during the sixth meeting of the first regular session of the eleventh legislative term.

Counselor Dr Mansour Mohammed bin Nassar, Head of the Legal Department of the Government of Sharjah, praised the SCC for completing the legislative cycle of draft laws. He emphasized the importance of the new draft law in regulating the relationship between landlords and tenants in Sharjah.

The Director of Customer Service at Sharjah Municipality, Khaled Falah Al Suwaidi, highlighted the importance of the draft law in enhancing tourist, investment, and residential attraction in the emirate. He mentioned that the new law addresses the current living situation of society and meets the demands of the real estate sector in Sharjah.

During the meeting, Hamad Abdel Wahab Al Qawadi, Rapporteur of the Council’s Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee, presented the draft law for 2024 on real estate leasing in Sharjah. The Council discussed the provisions and objectives of the law aimed at regulating the landlord-tenant relationship.

Members of the Council provided their opinions on various articles of the draft law, and government representatives clarified aspects of legal interpretation and implementation of the law. The Council ultimately approved the draft law, making it the second to be discussed in the new legislative term.

This strong law and legislation will regulate the trading of real estate in Sharjah, providing a structured framework for buying, selling, and other real rights. With these new regulations in place, the real estate sector in Sharjah is expected to see positive growth and development.
