Derek Jeter’s Greenwood Lake Mansion Listed for $6.3 Million after Drastic Price Drop

Former Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter’s iconic lakeside mansion, known as “the castle” on Greenwood Lake near the New York-New Jersey state line, is making headlines as it hits the market with a significantly reduced price tag. Listed at $6.3 million, down from its original price of nearly $15 million, the historic property has been in the Jeter family for over seven decades.

Originally built in 1903 by a New York City doctor, Rudolph Gudewill, the property has a rich history that includes Jeter’s grandfather, William Connors, living on the estate after being adopted by the Tiedemann family in 1952. Jeter himself acquired the property in the early 2000s from the Tiedemann family trust when the home was in a state of disrepair and divided into apartments.

Under Jeter’s ownership, the estate underwent a transformative renovation, expanding to include a main house, guest house, pool house, and boat house. The picturesque grounds boast an infinity pool, beautifully landscaped gardens, a lagoon, and sweeping lakefront views along 700 feet of shoreline on Greenwood Lake.

The stone home at 14 Lake Shore Road in the Town of Warwick, N.Y., features two distinctive turrets that have earned it the nickname “the castle.” With two conference rooms, six bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, and five kitchens (including one with an outdoor wood-burning fireplace), the property offers a luxurious and idyllic retreat.

As a first-ballot Hall of Famer and former CEO of the Miami Marlins, Jeter has made a name for himself beyond his legendary baseball career. Despite listing the Greenwood Lake property for $14.75 million in 2018, and subsequently reducing the price to $12.75 million in 2021, Jeter has now put it on the market for $6.3 million, sparking interest from potential buyers looking to own a piece of baseball history.

Locals have long admired the picturesque estate, which has been a staple in the Greenwood Lake area, even though Jeter himself has rarely been seen in the vicinity. As the lakeside mansion with a rich history and stunning amenities becomes available for a new owner, it continues to captivate both residents and real estate enthusiasts alike.
