Approval of 240-Property Housing Estate in Catterick Road, Catterick Garrison Despite Concerns

After two years of debates and consultations, a 240-property housing estate has finally been approved on Catterick Road in Catterick Garrison, despite concerns over “overdevelopment” and environmental impact.

The decision, made by North Yorkshire Council on Friday, marks a significant milestone in the planning process for developers Miller Homes. The estate will consist of 34 two-bedroom houses, 120 three-bedroom houses, and 86 four-bedroom houses, with 72 designated as affordable housing.

While the project initially faced objections from the public and Brough with St Giles Parish Council due to its perceived high density and impact on the surrounding countryside, Miller Homes assured that environmental considerations such as heat pumps and solar panels would be integrated to mitigate any negative effects.

Additionally, measures will be taken to address concerns about increased traffic in the area, ensuring that the development is as eco-friendly and sustainable as possible.

The approval of this housing estate comes shortly after Avant Homes unveiled plans for a similar development in the nearby Brompton Mews estate, showcasing a growing trend of expansion and development in the region. With these new projects on the horizon, Catterick Garrison is set to see significant growth and change in the coming years.
