Trammell Crow Co-Head Seeks Sites for Expansion in UK Office Market
Dan Rees, co-head of UK offices for Trammell Crow Company, is on a mission to expand the firm’s portfolio of top-notch office schemes in the UK. Four months after Candour, the company he co-founded, was acquired by the American real estate giant, Rees is setting his sights on new sites to bolster their offerings.
The acquisition by Trammell Crow Company last October opened up a pipeline of 800,000 sq ft of offices in Bristol, London, and Manchester for the firm. In Manchester, their sole North West scheme is the 200,000 sq ft project at 39 Deansgate, highlighting the city’s importance in their growth strategy.
Rees sees Manchester as a key market for investment, citing the city’s culture as a driving factor for attracting capital. He also views Bristol and Birmingham as promising markets, but describes Liverpool as a more challenging proposition due to slim profit margins.
Despite the current challenges facing the office market, including uncertain demand post-pandemic and financing difficulties, Rees remains optimistic about the future. With Trammell Crow’s financial backing, he believes they are well-positioned to navigate the tough market conditions and capitalize on opportunities for growth.
Looking ahead, Rees aims to deliver two large office schemes annually, totaling between 300,000 sq ft and 500,000 sq ft of workspace. At just 35 years old, he exudes a youthful ambition to achieve success akin to the legendary developers of old, giving a glimpse into the exciting journey ahead for Trammell Crow Company’s UK office ventures.
