Shane Watson Looks at Kylie Minogue and Michael Hutchence’s Former Apartment as New Buyers Emerge
Former Australian cricketer Shane Watson recently had his eye on a piece of Sydney real estate with a famous history. Watson, along with his wife Lee, looked at Kylie Minogue and Michael Hutchence’s former apartment in the iconic Connaught building at 2407/187 Liverpool St, Sydney. The apartment, where Hutchence and Minogue lived between 1989 and 1991, was recently sold at auction for a record-breaking $3,405,000.
Despite Watson and his wife’s interest, the apartment was ultimately purchased by “a couple of guys.” It is speculated that Watson may have been considering the property as an investment, given their recent real estate transactions in Bellevue Hill.
The current owners, director of AusMed Innovations Gavin Holland and his partner Kelly McNamara, shared some interesting details about the apartment’s history. They revealed that Hutchence and Minogue used to host wild parties at the apartment, which is just two floors below the communal rooftop pool. Holland and McNamara purchased the apartment for $3.1 million in 2021 but are now planning to move to the northern beaches.
Overall, the sale of this iconic apartment has captured the attention of many, with its storied past and connection to two famous entertainers. The new owners will undoubtedly cherish the history and memories that come with this unique property.
