Sheffield’s Leaders to Showcase City at UK Real Estate Investment Forum

Sheffield’s leaders are gearing up to attend the UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum next week in Leeds. The city delegation, comprised of elected officials, civic leaders, and businesspeople, will be highlighting Sheffield as a global, green, and growing city that offers dynamic spaces for work, live, and play.

The event, which attracts 12,000 delegates from around the world, will see Sheffield partnering with the South Yorkshire Mayoral Authority to showcase recent progress and developments in the city. Sheffield will be spotlighting its commitment to reimagining the city center, preserving heritage, and leading the way in achieving carbon net zero.

Known as the ‘Outdoor City’, Sheffield boasts ground-breaking initiatives such as the world’s first Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District, the UK’s first Investment Zone, and the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park. These initiatives have helped raise Sheffield’s global profile and attract investment to the city.

One of the key projects that will be highlighted at the forum is Sheffield City Council’s flagship Heart of the City development in the city center. This £470 million scheme has delivered innovative new developments connected by world-class green spaces, including the recently completed Cambridge Street Collective and Elshaw House, South Yorkshire’s first zero carbon-ready office.

The city’s growth will be outlined at the forum, showcasing how Sheffield is investing in infrastructure, skills, education, housing, and transport. With plans for 36,000 new homes across the city, delegates will learn about the creation of vibrant new areas and the investment in key projects like Furnace Hill and Neepsend, which have already received significant government funding.

Key speakers at the event will include Kate Josephs, Chief Executive of Sheffield City Council, Cllr Tom Hunt, Leader of Sheffield City Council, and Oliver Coppard, South Yorkshire Mayor, among others. These leaders will underscore Sheffield’s confidence in driving the next phase of growth and the city’s commitment to sustainable development.

“We are so proud of what we are delivering in Sheffield right now,” said Sheffield City Council Chief Executive Kate Josephs. “Our major city center regeneration projects are providing stunning architecture, celebrating our heritage and identity, and aligning with our net zero goals. Confidence is coursing through the city and we’re harnessing this to drive our next phase of growth.”

Councillor Tom Hunt, Leader of Sheffield City Council, added: “Sheffield understands growth and we have a long-term plan to make it happen. Our growth plan forecasts £3 billion of investment into the city, and we look forward to sharing these successes and opportunities during the UK Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum.”
