Sheffield Shines at UK Real Estate and Investment Forum

Sheffield City Council’s flagship Heart of the City development in Sheffield City Centre is taking center stage as city leaders head to the UK’s largest real estate and investment event next week. The event, the UK Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF), will bring together 12,000 delegates from around the world in Leeds on 21-23 May.

The delegation from Sheffield, comprised of elected officials, civic leaders, and businesspeople, will showcase Sheffield as a global, green, and growing city that is delivering dynamic spaces to work, live, and play. Partnering with the South Yorkshire Mayoral Authority, the city will highlight recent progress in reimagining the city centre, preserving heritage, and leading the way on carbon net zero.

Known as the ‘Outdoor City,’ Sheffield has been raising its global profile with groundbreaking initiatives such as the world’s first Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District, the UK’s first Investment Zone, and the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park. The city’s game-changing city centre regeneration, including the £470m Heart of the City scheme, has delivered innovative new developments interlinked by world-class green spaces.

Key recent developments include Europe’s largest purpose-built food hall, Cambridge Street Collective, and South Yorkshire’s first zero carbon-ready office, Elshaw House. The city is confidently driving its next phase of growth through investment, skills, education, housing, and transport infrastructure.

With plans to deliver 36,000 new homes across the city, with 20,000 in the central area, Sheffield is focused on creating vibrant new areas to drive economic growth. The city’s long-term plan forecasts £3 billion of investment, and partnerships with organizations like Homes England and South Yorkshire’s Mayor are essential to realizing these goals.

The Sheffield Showcase at UKREiiF will feature key speakers such as Kate Josephs, Chief Executive of Sheffield City Council, Cllr Tom Hunt, Leader of the Council, and South Yorkshire Mayor Oliver Coppard. The delegation will participate in various events and discussions, highlighting the city’s innovative partnerships, sustainable energy infrastructure, and ambitious growth plans.

Sheffield is set to make a significant impact at the UKREiiF, showcasing its commitment to growth, sustainability, and innovation on a global stage. With a focus on collaboration and forward-thinking initiatives, Sheffield is positioning itself as a city on the forefront of economic development and urban renewal.
