Faisal Vawda dismisses property leaks as a ‘propaganda drive’

Senator Alleges Hidden Agenda Behind Leaked Property Records and Timing of Revelations

According to Senator Faisal Vawda, the recent leaked property records in the “Dubai Unlocked” project are being referred to as a “propaganda drive” to malign specific individuals. The senator, who was once a part of the ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, raised suspicions over the timing of the leaks when Pakistan is hoping for foreign investments.

Vawda claimed that the leaked records did not include any names from the former ruling party and that only a few “honest personalities” were mentioned. He also alleged that a “specific class” was removed from the dossier before it was made public.

The senator further criticized the makers of the leaks for mixing up legitimate and illegitimate possessions without any distinction. He did not confirm whether his own properties in Dubai were declared or not.

The timing of the property leaks was questioned by Vawda, especially since it came right after the law and order situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) deteriorated. He emphasized that the leaks were made public just as Pakistan and Dubai were expecting global investments.

The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project’s (OCCRP) Dubai Unlocked project revealed that more than a dozen retired military officials, bankers, and bureaucrats own properties worth $11 billion in Dubai. Among the thousands of Pakistani property owners are retired military generals, air vice-marshals, a serving inspector general of police, and other prominent figures.

Senator Vawda’s claims have sparked further debate and controversy over the leaked property records, with many questioning the credibility and intentions behind the leaks.
